The climate change defence

The big environmental news this week has been the acquittal of six Greenpeace protestors who defaced the chimney at Kingsnorth power station last week. It’s quite a remarkable case, because they used climate change as ‘lawful excuse’. This forced the court not just to rule on their act of bold graffiti, but on climate change and the government’s energy policy. Witnesses were some of the world’s leading experts on climate change.
