Child psychologists tell us that outdoor play is important for children’s wellbeing and development, but today’s children spend more time indoors than previous generations. is a film that explores our relationship with the outdoors, the technologies and consumerist messages that keep us inside, and how we can reconnect with nature.
There is a growing awareness of nature deficit disorder, and it is good to see a huge range of organisations and individuals backing this film, including the RSPB, National Trust and the Eden Project. I’ve written a bit about the problem before, but it’s worth browsing the website for what can be done about it and some of the groups working to turn things around. Let the wild rumpus begin!
