the cycle lane of shame

The cycle lane is a great symbol of environmental underacheivement. Anyone who’s ever used them knows that councils consider it more important to be seen to be doing than actually doing, and that’s why you end up with cycle lanes where there’s room for them, rather than where they’re needed.

Out to shame their town into doing better is . They’ve released a book of ‘‘, and this is one of them:

  1. As a cyclist, I have noticed this a lot: I’m pleased that there’s a group who seem to actually be getting heard: it’s very difficult to get through to my council, supposedly one of the “Cycling Cities” the government announced last year.

  2. good on them, there are cities in america that have 50% of journeys completed in bikes, so we can do more and should do more for cyclists.
